MINI MASTERCLASSES

GROW IN YOUR CRAFT

One of the ways WCCW serves writers is by hosting three mini masterclasses per year, covering writing and publishing topics. For each live, one-hour webinar, we bring in an expert to speak on the subject. Mini masterclasses are hosted live on Zoom and recorded for viewing afterward. Members receive a code to register for free; non-members may register at the low price of $14.

FRESH TAKES: ON PITCHING, QUERIES, AND GETTING TO YES

with agent Emma Fulenwider

How do I find the right agent? What makes a query stand out? How long should I wait to hear back? Is it okay to follow up? What does "this isn't a fit for me" actually mean? An agent said I should change my whole book, do I listen to them or stick to my vision? Emma Fulenwider answers common questions that writers ask when they don't know they're talking to an agent.

Attendees will learn:

  • The top 5 reasons why a query gets passed over

  • When to start, stop, or change directions with your book idea

  • Soul care for writers in the querying trenches

  • Plus, a peek at the process after a "yes" email

Emma Fulenwider is a writer and literary agent with WordServe Literary Group.
